Licensing & Image Use
Using images from the archive
All images in the archive are available to license on a non-exclusive, usage-based basis. We keep the process simple and transparent: once you tell us how you plan to use an image, we’ll provide a tailored quote.
There are no subscriptions, no fixed resolution tiers, and no instant downloads. Every licence is issued individually to ensure the correct usage rights are applied.
How licensing works
Licensing is based on the nature of your project and how the image will be used. We keep this simple and flexible, with straightforward, non-exclusive permissions suitable for most editorial, commercial, and general creative applications.
- the type of project (editorial, commercial, promotional, personal, etc.)
- where the image will appear (print, web, social media, signage, etc.)
- whether the use is for a business, organisation, or individual
- whether the image will be used in a design, publication, product, or campaign
All licences are non-exclusive, as many images are available across multiple platforms and collections.
Typical pricing
Most licences fall between £25 and £125, depending on the intended use. Once you provide the image reference number and a brief description of your project, we’ll confirm the exact fee.
This range also appears on individual image pages for consistency and guidance.
Annual licences
Annual image licences are available for organisations that require ongoing use. Please enquire for details and a tailored quote.
How to request a quote
Please feel free to get in touch for a tailored quote. Sending the image reference number and a short note about your project helps us respond quickly.
Restrictions
Some images may contain identifiable people, trademarks, artworks, or locations that require additional permissions. If this applies, we’ll advise you before issuing a licence.
